I am always feeling like a beginner all over again. It should be a draw to the professional programmer, your going to learn new languages and frameworks. I understand we must type cast ourselves for a particular job or position because few companies want to hire a generalist and the number of companies that want to pay while you learn is actually less. |

I built several flash applications for my last employer, some ran on the internet, some did not.
They are still using the wordsmart challenge. The stand alone version of the software is still their flagship product. I did not use any third party products for data storage, but chose to use flash Shared Objects to store, manage, and, display data. All of this was done in AS 2.0. I am familiarizing myself with AS 3.0 and I am sure I could handle a project using 3.0.

My most recent experience with SQL is MS SQL and MySQL. PL/SQL, and Informix were a few years ago. I was first exposed to ascii SQL in 1996. I prefer to do most of my queries from the command prompt or from scripts and programs that I write. As a programmer I want to get as much done in SQL as I can use to power and accuracy of the SQL to refine the data and use my program to consume, display and pass data to other process, database or reportng mechanisms.

I have been writing Perl scripts for the last 11 years. I am extremely familiar with the language meaning not only can I write Perl code, I can read other peoples Perl.
When I write my code, I keep it readable and use the strict pragma early on in the prototyping stage. I am comfortable working with (Object Oriented Perl) OOP that being said, if I come into a new environment or workplace, I will work within the guidelines available. If no guidelines are available, I do my best to follow current and past practices in regards to Object Oriented Frameworks already in use. |
